NexCorr’s PDS (Pit Detection Corrosion Monitoring System) is capable of monitoring real-time pitting corrosion. The PDS provides not calculating data but actual pitting corrosion data.
The PDS has three (3) carbon steel layers of each 40 µm or 25 µm thickness.
Each layer in the probe has a set voltage value, and the voltage source is connected to a circuit in the transmitter. When the first layer is penetrated by pitting corrosion, the insulator between the first and the second layers will be a breakdown, and the two layers are electrically shorted. The voltage changes in each layer transfer to the software and are analyzed to determine the layer penetration.
Therefore, when the pitting corrosion of each 40 µm or 25 µm depth occurs, NexCorr’s software shows a step for pitting rates in real-time.
